Best OpenAI Models for Auto-Reply (Comments & Reviews)

1. What Auto-Reply Needs #

Your Auto-Reply module:

  • Listens to new WordPress comments and WooCommerce reviews.
  • Generates short, friendly replies in your brand voice.
  • Might send Telegram notifications too.
  • Needs:
    • Good tone control.
    • Low cost per comment (could be many).
    • Reliability and safety.

2. Recommended Models #

Here we prioritize cheap and fast, but still want decent style.

Best default for Auto-Reply:

  1. gpt-4.1-nano

Balanced option:

  1. gpt-4.1-mini
    • If your brand voice and nuance are very important (e.g. thoughtful responses to long reviews), mini is a better fit than nano. OpenAI Platform+2OpenAI+2

Premium but rarely necessary:

  1. gpt-4.1
    • Use only if:
      • You have relatively few comments.
      • You want maximum quality even for replies.

Legacy / fallback:

  1. gpt-4o-mini or gpt-4o (if your account doesn’t expose 4.1 yet). OpenAI Platform+2Zapier+2
  2. gpt-3.5-turbo as a last fallback. OpenAI Platform+1

3. Models Not Recommended for Auto-Reply #

  • Reasoning models (o1/o3/o4-mini):
  • Any deprecated older models:
    • They may break unexpectedly when retired.

4. How to Set the Auto-Reply Model in Davix #

  1. Go to Davix AI Engine → Auto-Reply (or “Comments & Reviews AI”).
  2. Find the “Auto-Reply OpenAI model” field.
  3. Set:

  4. Save.
  5. Post a test comment/review and check:
    • Generated reply.
    • Telegram notification, if enabled.
